Counteract is running a series of legal briefings and workshops for people wishing to take part in non-violent direct actions.
These trainings will focus on NSW law, be aware that there are slight variations across states. They do not intent to validate Australia’s laws, but instead empower people with information and skills. The information will be applicable for anyone thinking of taking part in the Blockade Australia mobilisation.
The legal trainings will be split into two parts.
Part 1 will be a cover knowing your rights and what to expect when participating in direct action. It will also include anecdotal history of charges and sentencing that has been used recently by NSW police towards people taking part in Blockade Australia mobilisations.
Part 2 will be cover the Bail and Court process. It is designed to give you a framework to help make decisions when going through the judicial process.
Both of these sessions will run for 60-90 minutes and will run concurrently on Thursdays at 7pm and Sundays at 3pm.
